What was the inspiration behind your work?
The inspiration behind the work was its original story by the person who swopped it. Kate had hand turned this wooden object herself. The original design wasn't how the object turned and was imperfect but she valued the imperfection and used it as an advantage to create something new.
My finished piece is a photographic abstraction of the object. I wanted to deaf familiarise it and emphasis on a part of its shape. I wanted to focus on that imperfection specifically.
What was it about the SWOP SHOP that interested you and enticed you to take part?
The mystery of not knowing which object will be swapped with my work was attractive. I am excited to see how people will react to my work, the feedback I will get and the unknown object that exists somewhere.
