Elaine works with university faculty staff in an advisory capacity, specialising in foundation entry four year degrees. This involves advice regarding embedding academic skills, sharing good practice and building up a portfolio of information regarding our foundation offer here at BCU. Uptake to the foundation entry four year degrees is increasing, so it is an interesting role. In addition she has teaching responsibilities, running workshops on Dissertations, Academic Writing, Academic Reading and Exam Techniques.
She studied German and ended up living in Germany for about five years. While she was there she started teaching English as a Foreign Language. She returned to England and married a 'Brummie'. When she first came to Birmingham, she taught Business German and Business English at the Rover car factory to Rover workers and some BMW managers. Because of this and other influences she is interested in business and marketing. On the home front, she now has two children, so doesn't have much spare time. Her latest interest outside of work is Nordic Walking.
