Alice began her teaching career in Japan, where she spent a happy five years enjoying the beautiful temples and shrines, delicious food, and wonderful nature. She then returned to the UK to undertake an MA in Applied Linguistics and the Cambridge Delta, and taught international students in London before returning to her hometown of Birmingham.

Now a Learner Developer in English for Academic Purposes (EAP) at BCU, she focuses on providing English support for students for whom English is not a first language. She provides in-faculty embedded support, and open access one-to-one tutorials and workshops through the Centre for Academic Success. Areas of support include paraphrasing, using sources, academic writing style, vocabulary building, grammar, speaking and presentation skills, listening skills, and reading skills.
