Emma qualified in Adult Nursing in 2000 and graduated from Liverpool University in 2001 with a BA. During her degree Emma trained as a District nurse with Nurse prescribing but moved back into the hospital to work in Medical assessment.  Emma has spent most of her clinical career nursing in Neonatal Intensive care at Liverpool Women's Hospital where she completed foundation and then specialist qualifications neonatal nursing at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital. In 2005 Emma Trained as a Health Visitor in South London gaining as BSC, complementing her neonatal nursing.

Emma worked as a Band 7 Clinical Educator in Neonatal Intensive care at Birmingham Women's and in 2019 completed a PGCert in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education from Birmingham City University. This allowed Emma to further mentor staff on post registration courses, new staff and students, as well as teaching in both the classroom and clinical environment. Emma taught and developed course in Induction to neonates, Critical Care, Resuscitation, Surgery, Infant feeding and mandatory training. 

In 2022 Emma qualified as a NLS and BLS instructor and was able to deliver mandatory resuscitation RCUK approved training to staff on the neonatal unit.  

Emma is passionate about nursing education, ensuring students are supported and empowered to be equipped to deliver safe and effective person-centred care.
