Dr Nouh Sabri Elmitwally is a data scientist and enterprise-driven AI academic with more than two decades of experience across Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Data Science. He earned his PhD in Computer Science from the University of Surrey (UK) and has taught and led academic roles across Birmingham City University, Jouf University, and Cairo University. His expertise spans applied machine learning, AI education and pedagogy, evolutionary computing, and green cloud computing, with a sustained emphasis on deploying AI to address practical challenges.

He has built a strong profile in both research leadership and education, serving as co-investigator and academic lead on multiple funded projects, including UKRI and industry-linked initiatives such as ChainAI, ELAN, EcRoFit, and Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTPs) with METCLOUD and Reliant Windows LTD. His research and innovation activities focus on translating AI and machine learning into impact across domains such as healthcare, supply chains, cybersecurity, and digital inclusion. Collectively, his collaborations have generated over £1.0m of externally facing value for BCU through KTPs and funded research, strengthening business transformation and delivering measurable regional benefit.

As an educator and curriculum designer, he delivers enterprise-informed and research-aligned teaching that supports student success, improves outcomes, and enables learners to publish, win technical competitions, and progress into KTP roles and PhD pathways. He is Deputy Course Lead for the MSc Artificial Intelligence and has led undergraduate and postgraduate modules in AI, Machine Learning, Data Science, and Data Visualisation, with strong student satisfaction and a proven mentoring record. He has also strengthened regional workforce capability through funded and feepaying CPD programmes, engaging 70 SMEs, while embedding live industry challenges, employer mentoring, and research outputs into learning. These activities align directly with BCU’s Strategy 2030 priorities to Develop Talent for Tomorrow and Create Knowledge for Good through inclusive, practice-based AI education.

Dr Elmitwally is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, an Associate Editor of the Egyptian Informatics Journal, and has published over 60 scientific publications, reflecting a sustained commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration, impactful teaching, and applied AI innovation.
