Welcome Message

I am absolutely delighted to welcome you to the MSc Real Estate Management programme. This marks the beginning of an exciting journey, and the entire teaching team is thrilled to have you join our academic community this September. Starting a postgraduate degree is a brilliant milestone, and we are here to support, inspire, and guide you every step of the way.

To help you settle in, connect with peers, and find your feet, we have a fantastic lineup of induction activities starting Monday, 14 September 2026. These sessions are designed to be relaxed and informative. You will get to know your fellow classmates, meet the academic staff, and familiarise yourself with the campus and our support services. A huge part of university life happens outside the classroom. Make sure to check out the Student Union Fairs to see what events you can get involved with on Tuesday, 15 September at the City South Campus, and Wednesday, 16 – Thursday, 17 September at the City Centre Campus.

The global property sector is fast-paced and complex. We have carefully designed this curriculum to bridge the gap between the business, financial, legal, and technological frameworks of contemporary property ownership. We do not just focus on theory. You will dive into real-life case studies, giving you the practical tools and confidence needed to navigate the global market. Our focus is on fostering innovative, interdisciplinary thinking to help you become a highly reflective, independent practitioner. Crucially, our programme is fully accredited by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS). This ensures your education meets the highest professional standards, giving you a distinct edge as you build your career.

Postgraduate study is incredibly rewarding, but it moves quickly. The best advice I can give you for your first week is to get involved, ask questions, and start building your network early. Enjoy every moment of Welcome Week. We are so excited to meet you all in person and watch you thrive.

Wishing you the absolute best for the year ahead!

First day on Campus

We look forward to welcoming you to Birmingham City University!

You must have your ID card visible at all times when on campus, so if you have received yours before your first day, ensure you bring this with you. If you enrolled late you will need to collect one on campus during your first few days. Please remember that your ID card is for your use only. You must never let anyone else use it.

To complete your enrolment, you will need the following:

  • Passport (or other form of photo ID if you are a UK/EU student)
  • Original qualification documents if applicable (you will be emailed a list of the documents we need to see once you have completed your online enrolment)
  • Visa (international students only)

What else? The rest is up to you! You will find a shop, café, pub, computer access and water fountains on campus, but we do recommend you bring the following on the first day:

  • Laptop, if you have one
  • Notepad and pen
  • Reusable water bottle
  • Snack
  • Money

And remember, the weather in Birmingham can be changeable!
