Welcome Message

Welcome to the MA Public Relations course! I am delighted that you’ll be joining us this September and look forward to welcoming you to our vibrant academic and professional community and to the #BCUWeArePR family.

To prepare you, BCU has organised Induction Week (w/c 14th September), which is designed to help you settle into postgraduate study, meet your tutors and classmates, and become familiar with the facilities, services, and opportunities available to you. I would also encourage you to visit the Students’ Union Fair, where you can meet student societies, support services, and fellow students - the City Centre Campus events take place on 16th and 17th September.

Starting university can feel both exciting and daunting, but please be reassured that you will be fully supported throughout your journey with us. From your first day, you will have access to guidance from academic staff, your personal tutor, and our wider student support teams, all of whom are here to help you succeed both academically and personally.

In your first few weeks, you can look forward to getting involved in engaging discussions around contemporary public relations practice, and during your first semester you will begin developing skills and your professional network. To get a feel for what we are about, follow @bcuwearepr on Instagram.

Have a good summer and I will look forward to welcoming you person in September.

First day on Campus

We look forward to welcoming you to Birmingham City University!

You must have your ID card visible at all times when on campus, so if you have received yours before your first day, ensure you bring this with you. If you enrolled late you will need to collect one on campus during your first few days. Please remember that your ID card is for your use only. You must never let anyone else use it.

To complete your enrolment, you will need the following:

  • Passport (or other form of photo ID if you are a UK/EU student)
  • Original qualification documents if applicable (you will be emailed a list of the documents we need to see once you have completed your online enrolment)
  • Visa (international students only)

What else? The rest is up to you! You will find a shop, café, pub, computer access and water fountains on campus, but we do recommend you bring the following on the first day:

  • Laptop, if you have one
  • Notepad and pen
  • Reusable water bottle
  • Snack
  • Money

And remember, the weather in Birmingham can be changeable!
