Welcome Message

We are looking forward to welcoming you to the programme as you begin this exciting journey. Induction week commences on 14/9/26, it is important you attend to ensure a smooth, successful transition into University life. During induction week you have opportunities to meet your fellow students, academic staff and engage in a range of activities.

You will be supported throughout your studies by a personal academic tutor, alongside access to a range of University support services, including wellbeing and mental health services and academic skills, to support your success.

Alongside integrated learning with students from all four fields of nursing, you will develop specialist knowledge and skills for Learning Disabilities nursing, from the start of your course. This year, you will learn about the principles of Learning Disabilities nursing, human anatomy and physiology; and, understanding the role of Health Promotion and Health Inequalities. All of these will aid your development as a Nurse and supports your clinical decision making.

Practice placements are central to your learning giving you experience across a variety of settings. You will also engage in simulated learning to build confidence and clinical skills. During placements you will be supported by experienced practitioners, including a practice supervisor and assessor, who guide and support your learning and development.

We encourage you to attend the Student Union Fairs taking place:
15th September – City South
16-17th September – City Centre.

As you begin this journey with us, remember:
