Welcome Week will take place between Monday 14 - Friday 18 September 2026. During Welcome Week your course team will schedule activities for you to find out important information about your course, meet your lecturers and other students, and find your way around.

Teaching on your course begins from Monday 21 September 2026. Please check your timetable for details.

You will be able to see your timetable on iCity using your BCU login details as soon as they are released. You should have received your BCU login details when you were invited to enrol.

Welcome Message

Firstly, may I offer you a warm welcome to the BSc (Hons) Diagnostic Radiography course on behalf of all of us here at BCU. We are delighted to see you as a new member of the diagnostic radiography community, and we hope that your student training is an enjoyable first step at the beginning of a lifelong journey working within diagnostic radiography.

We would like to welcome you to join us during your Induction Week on the week commencing 14th September so that we may introduce you to the course team and help you settle into the university, with orientation and diagnostic specific activities throughout the week. This is a fantastic opportunity for you to engage with your peers and start developing your identity as a diagnostic radiography student in this new and exciting environment.

The course team are all HCPC registered radiographers who are enthusiastic, approachable, and supportive. We are dedicated, with high expectations, promoting professionalism and reflective practice throughout the course. We are committed to collaborative working across multi-disciplines and with clinical partners, providing a brilliant learning experience to ensure your success in becoming highly employable graduates both within the UK and abroad.

We recognise that managing your studies can be daunting and should you need any help or advice on any matter relating to your course, please don’t hesitate to contact any member of the Diagnostic Radiography team. Additional information about the University, life in Birmingham, and the advice and support available to all students will be made available to you over the coming weeks as we welcome you to BCU.

Your course will mainly be taught in:

Seacole Building, City South Campus (Room numbers start with SCT)

First day on Campus

We look forward to welcoming you to Birmingham City University!

You must have your ID card visible at all times when on campus, so if you have received yours before your first day, ensure you bring this with you. If you enrolled late you will need to collect one on campus during your first few days. Please remember that your ID card is for your use only. You must never let anyone else use it.

To complete your enrolment, you will need the following:

  • Passport (or other form of photo ID if you are a UK/EU student)
  • Original qualification documents if applicable (you will be emailed a list of the documents we need to see once you have completed your online enrolment)
  • Visa (international students only)

What else? The rest is up to you! You will find a shop, café, pub, computer access and water fountains on campus, but we do recommend you bring the following on the first day:

  • Laptop, if you have one
  • Notepad and pen
  • Reusable water bottle
  • Snack
  • Money

And remember, the weather in Birmingham can be changeable!
