Welcome Message
Welcome to the MArch Architecture course as you embark on the next stage of your architectural education. We are eagerly preparing the curriculum and content to commence from Induction Week (w/c 14 September).
As the city continues to undergo rapid change in its urban fabric, the course questions how we can respond to these challenging times, which no doubt you will play a part of that conversation during your time here on the MArch.
The course is supported by our expert team of tutors and visiting specialists, many from renowned practices and strong links to the region. We have a number of initiatives including Co\LAB for collaborative electives, and live projects in Advanced Praxis with leading architecture firms providing experience on diverse examples of built heritage.
Our design units are curated each year to create a supportive and experimental creative culture with an exciting agenda to respond to.
Our students have received a number of awards and commendations recently, demonstrating our work is reputable at an international level – you are well placed here at our school to achieve future success.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask myself or colleagues who will be able to point you in the right direction.
On behalf of all the teaching team, we look forward meeting you in September.

We look forward to welcoming you to Birmingham City University!
You must have your ID card visible at all times when on campus, so if you have received yours before your first day, ensure you bring this with you. To complete your enrolment, you will need the following:
- Passport (or other form of photo ID if you are a UK/EU student)
- Original qualification documents if applicable (you will be emailed a list of the documents we need to see once you have completed your online enrolment)
- Visa (international students only)
What else? The rest is up to you! You will find a shop, café, pub, computer access and water fountains on campus, but we do recommend you bring the following on the first day:
- Laptop, if you have one
- Notepad and pen
- Reusable water bottle
- Snack
- Money
And remember, the weather in Birmingham can be changeable!
