If you're a BCU final-year student and have received an automatic offer for one of our postgraduate courses, here are some of the commonly asked questions about the offer.
What is the automatic offer scheme?
The automatic offer scheme is an opportunity for current students to receive an offer for a postgraduate course, without needing to fill in an application for the course.
Any offers made are conditional on you meeting the entry requirements for the course. There is no obligation for you to accept the offer we have made.
We have chosen a shortlist of courses that are relevant to your undergraduate degree, but you are welcome to apply for another course if you would prefer a different option.
Where can I find out more about the course I have an offer for?
Details of all courses can be found on our website: Postgraduate course list
If you want to speak to someone about the course, you will find details of the course lead in the staff list at the bottom of the course page.
Can I defer my offer until next year?
Yes, you are welcome to defer your offer to September 2027. Simply Contact us to request this.
Please note that we cannot guarantee that any scholarships or bursaries currently on offer will be available in September 2027.
Will I be eligible for the Graduate Scholarship?
Offers made as part of the automatic offer scheme will be eligible for the Graduate Scholarship as normal. The Scholarship is for BCU graduates enrolling onto an eligible full-time Master’s or PhD course. You can find full details of eligibility criteria on our Graduate Scholarship page.
What funding is available for postgraduate study?
There are a range of funding options for postgraduate study. As a BCU graduate, you will be eligible for a 20% fee reduction on eligible full-time Master’s or PhD courses through our Graduate Scholarship.
There are also Government-backed postgraduate loans of up to £12,858 available to UK, Irish and eligible EU nationals. The loans are available for any subject and are a contribution to expenses including fees and living costs.
In addition, we have a few subject-specific scholarships and bursaries. You can find details on our fees and funding page.
The course I want is not listed on the form I have been sent. Can I still apply for it?
We have provided a short list of courses which we think will be of interest to you. However, you are welcome to apply to any of our other postgraduate courses. You can find a full list of our postgraduate courses here: Postgraduate course list
Our fast-track application for current students means you can apply for most courses in less than a minute.
What postgraduate courses are available?
We offer a variety of postgraduate degrees, including taught Master’s and Master’s by Research, MBAs, postgraduate certificates and diplomas (PGCert/PGDip), doctoral degrees, as well as part-time and flexible study options.
What if I want to change which course I have an offer for?
If you have changed your mind about which course you would like to study, or wish to change to the part-time or Professional Placement version of a course (where available) and have already received an offer, you just need to complete the course change form, and our Admissions team will process that for you, subject to entry requirements and there being spaces available on the course.
Can I study the part-time or Professional Placement version of a course?
If you would like to change to part-time study, or the Professional Placement version of a course, you just need to complete the course change form, and our Admissions team will process that for you, subject to those options being available.
I am an Architecture student and would like to study MArch Architecture (RIBA Part II), but I don’t have professional experience; can I still receive an offer?
If you want to study MArch Architecture and achieve a 1st in your undergraduate degree, you don’t need to have professional experience.
Our entry requirements are EITHER a 1st in your undergraduate degree OR a 2:1 degree and at least nine months of post-undergraduate professional experience.
We can make you an offer to study in September 2026 or September 2027. So, if you don’t have professional experience, you can still have an offer to study the MArch, but your offer may be for September 2027, to allow you time to gain the experience.
