The AHRC-funded Midlands4Cities Doctoral Training Partnership (M4C) brings together eight leading universities across the Midlands, to support research students to become experts in their field and to employ their knowledge and skills in their career destinations
M4C’s commitment to postgraduate training and support offers students creative opportunities to develop skills and attributes for research, life and work. The vision is to be a major catalyst for arts and humanities postgraduate research in the Midlands and beyond.
The mission of M4C is to develop the next generation of world-leading scholars in the arts and humanities. Since its inception in 2014, BCU has secured 82 Midlands4Cities (M4C) awards, growing a Birmingham-based community of research excellence in art and design, media, music, jewellery, architecture, and law. An M4C award offers doctoral students not only the opportunity to develop high quality research but also a range of professional development opportunities, like placements and training, acting as a major catalyst for enriching the arts and humanities community in the Midlands and beyond.
M4C is a collaboration between the University of Birmingham, Birmingham City University, University of Warwick, Coventry University, University of Leicester, De Montfort University, Nottingham Trent University and The University of Nottingham.
AHRC funding is open to all UK and International students who meet the academic and residency eligibility criteria as detailed in the M4C application guidance.
