Two established ADM Professors, Diane Kemp (Media and Communications) and Andrew Kulman (Visual Communication) have been made Principal Fellows of the Higher Education Academy at the recent awards panel.
The qualification of Principal Fellow is awarded to those who can demonstrate a sustained track record of success and effectiveness in relation to teaching and strategic/ academic leadership in teaching as well as enhancing the student learning experience and meeting the descriptors of the UK Professional Standards Framework (UKPSF).
Gaining a Principal Fellowship means demonstrating the highest levels of teaching and learning achievements in leading good practice among colleagues. This is a nationally recognised award.
For students, this recognition means that you know you are being taught by staff who are highly skilled in teaching and supporting your learning, and who are focused on the quality of your learning experience.
Speaking about the achievement Professor Kemp commented: “I'm delighted to have been made Principal Fellow by the HEA. Their recognition adds weight to contributions I make at City, National and European events, which in turn helps promote the BCU name.”
At a time when the University is preparing itself for the Teaching Excellence Framework this is very welcome news for the Faculty of Arts, Design and Media which also have three National Teaching Fellows.
