As of September this year, the School of Social Sciences is offering an exciting new module to students in the Division of Sociology and Criminology.

Our cutting-edge ‘Environmental Justice and Green Criminology’ module will be available to students who are studying in the third year of their Criminology, Criminal Investigation and Sociology Honours Degree programmes at Birmingham City University.

Incorporating a wide range of topics, from animal abuse to environmental harms, through to corporate environmental offending and eco-terrorism, it applies environmental and ecological problems affecting the environment and diverse societies.

Taught by experienced researchers who are currently working at the forefront of this area of study the module provides a means of applying criminological theory to a wide range of mainstream crime issues, social problems and looks at the wider societal implications of environmental criminality and offending behaviour.

Alongside the expert team, Module Leader Dr Angus Nurse is an experienced practitioner who has written widely on environmental and wildlife crime issues for over 10 years. Dr Nurse is a frequent contributor to national and international animal, environmental and wildlife crime conferences and policy forums.
