Parents of children with eczema are set to benefit from free advice on ways to manage the condition at a special event taking place in Nottingham this weekend (Saturday 11 May).
Birmingham City University academic Professor Fiona Cowdell, will be hosting a stand run at INTU Nottingham to provide guidance for parents, based on her research into the condition.
Professor Cowdell will be supported by a dermatology specialist nurse and a dermatology nurse consultant available throughout the day on a stand based at the shopping centre.
Eczema is a long-term condition which affects one in five children in the UK and causes skin to become itchy, dry, cracked, sore and red.
Registered nurse Professor Fiona Cowdell is researching how best to manage the condition. She explained: “Eczema is a difficult condition to live with, but small changes in how it is treated can make a big difference to skin health and quality of life.
“Through my research I hope to change both layperson and healthcare professional eczema ‘mindlines’ by adding reliable and useful knowledge and erasing outdated or inaccurate information”
The stand will be open from 9am to 5pm on Saturday 11 May at INTU Nottingham.
