A creative student from Birmingham Institute of Art and Design at Birmingham City University has been putting his talents into real-life practice to help a local community group.
Second year Visual Communication student Matt Wisner was commissioned to design a new logo and banner for the Digbeth Residents Association, and even saw his work on display at last month’s St Patrick’s Day parade.
The logo Matt designed as part of the banner has since been adopted as a permanent feature of the association’s promotional material.
Matt said: “The Digbeth Residents Association does a good job and it was great to be able to contribute to them and to the St. Patrick's Day Parade. I am very happy with the outcome of my logo and grateful for the opportunity to get involved with something different and worthwhile.”
The Digbeth Residents Association is a voluntary organisation set up in 2007, and which became constituted in February 2011. It exists to serve the community by helping to improve Digbeth for residents, and to promote Digbeth as a destination rather than an ‘exit’ out of Birmingham.
Birmingham Institute of Art and Design is an international centre for excellence in art, design and subjects supporting the creative industries. One of the largest institutes for art, architecture and design in the country – the largest outside London – its students, graduates and staff practitioners form a substantial creative community
