Staff at the University are preparing for the BBC’s week-long celebration of all things digital, which comes to Birmingham next week.

As one of the key players in Birmingham Digital Week 2015, we will be heavily involved in several of the events taking place around the city.

Interactive Entertainment Games Jam and Showcase - Monday 16 March

Our Interactive Entertainment students will be taking part in a Games Jam, where they will be working to complete a game prototype during the day to be showcased at the evening meet-up. They'll also be showcasing their Dr Who interactive comics, made in partnership with RedBee media.

Guests are invited to come along to the Game Jam and watch, offer ideas and support.

RethinkMedia 2015 – Wednesday 18 March

We’ll be hosting the RethinkMedia 2015 conference at our City Centre Campus. This year features keynote talks and Q&As with former Google director Frank Golding and BBC Head of Future Media Ralph Rivera, alongside a host of social media, SEO, journalism and vlogging experts.

Soundtrack your life… With Spotify – Thursday 19 March

One of our graduates, Tyler Langan, will talk about music streaming service Spotify and how it feels to work in the forefront of the digital services industry.

Tyler landed his dream job at Spotify after completing a BSc Sound Engineering and Production course with us. He works in their Customer Services department, and describes his role as somewhere between a systems engineer and analyst, doing lots of Python and UNIX programming - which he loves.

Tyler will be joined by fellow Spotify employee Ryan Covill at this Creative Networks event, which takes place at Millennium Point.

The cutting edge of digital in jewellery design – Friday 20 March

You’ll be able to experience the cutting edge creative digital 3D processes now being used in jewellery design and manufacture at Birmingham School of Jewellery. Visits and practical hands-on sessions will explore the advanced digital technologies used at the school, which is celebrating its 125th birthday.
