Architectural Technology students at Birmingham City University are to unveil their building designs this week as industry professionals take a site visit at their final year degree show.

The event at the University’s Millennium Point campus on Friday 17 May will see the designs of over 30 students being exhibited, including buildings inspired by beehives, warships and a stack of shuffled playing cards.

With a strong focus on sustainability and environmental responsibility, students were tasked with designing a bespoke new teaching block for the University, using innovative and cutting edge technology in the structural, enclosing, finishing and servicing elements of their designed buildings.

Accredited by the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists (CIAT) and the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB), the Architectural Technology course at the University’s School of the Built Environment sees students become engaged as design and development consultants, taking on the role of a lead designer to produce building designs that meet all requirements of development legislation and regulations.

The degree show runs from 11.30am to 6pm on Friday 17 May and is open to the public. Upon arrival at Birmingham City University’s Millennium Point campus, please report to the University reception desk at Level 2 of Millennium Point.
