The Jewellery Industry Innovation Centre (JIIC) based at the School of Jewellery at Birmingham City University has helped create the world’s most expensive pair of shoes.

Costing a staggering £100,000 per pair, The Eternal Borgezie Diamond Stiletto is hand-crafted from either solid gold or platinum, then encrusted with 2,200 handset diamonds, with a total weight of 30.00 carats

Birmingham-based creator Chris Shellis called upon the expertise, facilities and techniques available at the JIIC to help create the iconic shoes. He is now working with the Centre to create the world’s most expensive clutch bag to match the shoes.

The internationally renowned School of Jewellery has been offering jewellery training since 1890 at the heart of the city’s famous Jewellery Quarter. The largest School of Jewellery in Europe, it has formal links with the Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths, British Jewellers' Association, the British Horological Institute and Gemmological Institute.
