Abandoned kitten

An abandoned kitten was rescued by staff at Birmingham City University after being left outside the City Centre Campus building University House in a basket with no message or form of identification.

The tabby – no more than five or six weeks old - was taken into the building by staff member Simon Pettifor before going to a vet for a medical and identification check. Sadly the vet was unable to find any evidence the kitten had been microchipped. However Simba (as he’s now known) was given a clean bill of health and has now been adopted by friends of staff member Helen Matthews, Assistant University Secretary. Helen commented:

If you find a cat on campus (or indeed anywhere else) that you believe to be stray or abandoned, please refer to guidance available on the Cats Protection website which includes information on how to identify if the animal is lost or stray, feeding and how to report the incident.
