Birmingham City University will be hosting its fourth annual charity quiz later this month, in a bid to decide who has the biggest brains.
Taking place at the University’s City North Campus in Perry Barr, this year’s chosen charity is ‘Guide Dogs for the Blind’ and will see staff, students and alumni battle it out in a fun quiz, whilst increasing understanding of the important work of charity and raising money for the regional branch of Guide Dogs for the Blind.
Sue Bushell, Guide Dogs Birmingham Mobility Team Community Engagement Officer, said: “The funds raised by the ‘Brains of BCU’ event will help support the work of Guide Dogs, as the service receives no government funding we rely on the generosity of individuals and events such as these to ensure that we can continue to work towards our aim of ensuring that people who are blind or partially sighted have the same freedom of movement as everyone else.
“Sight loss is life changing – but so are Guide Dogs, we have around 90 Guide Dog owners in Birmingham alone and to keep each partnership on the road for a day costs around £5, so every penny raised makes a big difference.
“I’d like to say a huge thank you to the team at Birmingham City University for supporting our work through the ‘Brains of BCU event’. I hope everyone has a fantastic night and I look forward to hearing who is crowned the brainiest!”
Tom Thompson, Student Communications Officer at Birmingham City University, said: “This is our fourth year organising the Brains of BCU event, it’s a good night for everyone involved and a great opportunity to strengthen the community at the University, while at the same time showing our support and raising awareness for a good cause.”
University students, graduates and staff will be battling it out in the quiz. You can help support the fundraising by donating on the JustGiving page.
