Birmingham City University is offering students the opportunity to train in forensic psychology with the launch of a new postgraduate degree.
The MSc Forensic Psychology will open its doors to a first cohort of students later this month, and offers an exciting opportunity for students to combine knowledge of psychological theory with the development of practical skills and an understanding of professional practice in forensic psychology.
Laura Caulfield, Course Director, said: “Is it safe to release violent prisoners early? Should we treat people with personality disorders against their will? Can we stop young people getting involved in gang crime? These are the sorts of questions we address on this course.
“Forensic Psychology as a career is currently booming with a significant growth in the job market and we are sure this degree will appeal to those interested in applying psychology and practical research skills to tackling the difficult problems that our society faces.”
The course is offered on both a part-time and fulltime basis and is taught by an experienced teaching team at Birmingham City University who specialize in teaching and research in forensic psychology. Students will also have opportunities to hear from guest lecturer practitioners from various areas of the Criminal Justice System, including HM Prison Service and the Youth Offending Service.
