Fashionistas at London Fashion Week were wowed by Birmingham City University fashion studentCamilla Kennedy, who was the runner-up at the Fashion Awareness Direct (FAD) awards.
Vauxhall Fashion Scout - the fashion arm of the motor company - spotted the third year student's winning designs in a competition they created. In order to qualify Camilla had to submit her portfolio and create two uniforms with a futuristic space theme. Her fashion master pieces were inspired by planets in the solar system.
Birmingham City University fashion student, Camilla Kennedy, said: "I was completely shocked to be chosen. When they called my name I could hardly believe it. Its fantastic news, I'm so happy and really proud of what I've achieved.
"The designs I created were inspired by planets, and as part of the brief I had to choose my birth planet which is Mercury, and another of my choice, Jupiter. For Mercury I used lots of reflective materials and inspiration for Jupiter was circular shapes and the colour orange.
"I created my l designs over the summer, but I didn't actually put the collection together until earlier this year. In total I had about three months to complete this collection. It was tough getting all the pieces exactly how I wanted them, but there was no way I was going to submit a collection I wasn't happy with, after all the hard work I put into it. But it's all paid off now, and I can't wait to start my work experience one I've finished my final year."
As part of her prize Camilla will receive work placements with top designer Margaret Howell and trendy fashion label Religion. She will also collect a cash prize.
London Fashion Week is the country's premier fashion event and is held in the capital every year during February.
