Birmingham City University welcomes Dr James Moultrie, from the Institute for Manufacturing at Cambridge University, to give a lecture on ‘‘Investing in Design to Drive Competitiveness’ next week.
The lecture is the second in the 2011 Design Built-In lecture series, held in conjunction with Aston University, School of Engineering and Applied Science, with the support of The Birmingham Post.
James Moultrie is a Senior Lecturer in Design Management. His research interests seek to improve the utilisation of design skills and increase design/innovation capability at project, firm and national levels.
His specific interests include managing new product development, the role of design in early stage science, sustainable design and design in services and his PhD is focused on assessing and improving design capabilities in small firms.
James is a Chartered Mechanical Engineer (IMechE) and has over ten years of industrial experience as a project manager, senior engineer and marketing product manager in the precision instruments sector. He has a 'Scientific and Technical Academy Award' and an Emmy for work on a range of lenses for professional 35mm cinematography.
The lecture is free to attend, and will take place at 3pm on Wednesday 23rd February 2011, at The Emma Jessie Phipps Lecture Theatre, Birmingham Institute of Art & Design (BIAD).
