Dave Holland, one of the most notable jazz bassists of our times, will be presenting a concert of his work performed by students of Birmingham Conservatoire.The one-off concert is taking place at the Recital Hall at the Conservatoire in Birmingham city centre on Thursday 11 November.
Dave Holland, who was born in Wolverhampton in the 1940s, has played with Chick Corea, Circle, Anthony Braxton, Kenny Wheeler, Chris Potter and most notably one of the most influential musicians of the 20 century – Miles Davis. Having worked with him in the 1960s, Dave featured on Davis’ studio recordings and was a member of his working band.
A gifted jazz bassist, composer and bandleader Dave Holland has won numerous awards throughout his long and successful career, most notably the prestigious Miles Davis Award at the Montreal Jazz Festival. Now living in the States, Dave is a visiting tutor at Birmingham Conservatoire and has delivered a master class to the students who will be performing at the concert. Although Dave Holland will be presenting, and not officially performing his music it is expected that in true jazz tradition he will pick up his bass and ‘jam’ alongside the students
