A student from Bournemouth has been celebrating after achieving top grades at university.
Danielle Walkey is the joint winner of Birmingham City University’s Student of Excellence Award for BSc hons. Midwifery. Danielle gained joint top marks on her course, and is due to start a new job in October in London, at Chelsea and Westminster hospital. Previous to attending Birmingham City University, Danielle attended Clayesmore boarding school in Blandford, Dorset.
Danielle said: “I chose to do midwifery as I thought it would be an extremely interesting job, as well as rewarding. I have enjoyed lots of different things over the past three years. The tutorial support at the Faculty of Health is brilliant and I have had all of my placements at Birmingham Women’s Hospital, or out in the community around it.
Danielle received her plaque at the University’s Faculty of Health awards ceremony on Friday 22 July at the Botanical Gardens, Edgbaston, Birmingham, where the guest speaker was Barbara Kuypers, West Midlands Local Supervising Authority Midwifery Officer.
Professor Ian Blair, Executive Dean of the Faculty of Health said: “This is the fifth year that the Health and Social Care Awards have been held, and this year the selection process has been more difficult than ever.
“The awards were created to provide formal recognition of the excellent efforts and achievements of our outstanding students, and to celebrate the relationships the Faculty has built with our practice partners.
“I’d like to take this opportunity to congratulate all our award winners and wish them the very best for the future.”
