Creative Networks welcomes David Mitson, who has worked with many of the top names in the music business, to talk about the mastering process for recorded music. We'll hear, with some examples, what mastering involves, what musicians can do for themselves before employing a mastering engineer and we'll discover more about the techniques used.
In the 90's, David was Senior Engineer at Sony in L.A. His clients included Michael Jackson, Barbara Streisand, Carlos Santana, Neil Diamond, Willie Nelson, Alice in Chains, the Muppets and South Park. He also mastered many movie soundtrack albums including Dead Man Walking, Cool Runnings, The Blair Witch Project and The Mask. Awards have also followed for David's restoration and mastering of the Bessie Smith and Blind Willie Johnson catalogues. He also remastered the very first blues song ever recorded, Mamie Smith's 'Crazy Blues' (1920).
Now operating in the West Midlands, David is finding it a pleasure to be working with independents who make music for the sheer joy of it. We're privileged to have him as our guest speaker; it's an evening not to be missed.
