A designer from Birmingham City University’s School of Fashion and Textiles has showcased her work on the London Fashion Week catwalk for the first time.
Rosie Dennington, who hails from Eynsham in Oxfordshire, was one of ten applicants chosen by youth charity The Prince’s Trust to showcase their collections at London Fashion Week – considered one of the ‘Big Four’ fashion weeks across the globe, along with New York, Milan and Paris.
Rosie’s ‘Wanderlust’ collection is fantasy bridal focused and was displayed on the runway by plus-size and standard models.
“I specifically chose the models myself and it really heated things up” said Rosie, who graduated from Birmingham City University in 2013.
“The feminine and luxurious collection looks at trying to capture the feeling of wanting to explore, whilst also incorporating the structure of corsetry.”
Rosie’s designs previously caught the attention of actress Helena Bonham Carter, who donned one of Rosie’s creations in an issue of popular culture magazine Vanity Fair.
“Helena is my style icon and that was beyond incredible! Paloma Faith, Beyoncé, Emilia Clarke and Florence Welch are on my wish list too. I find unique, strong women really aspirational.”
