Birmingham Conservatoire, part of Birmingham City University, celebrates its 125th anniversary this year - and the prestigious music college faces the future with confidence with exciting plans for a new home.

It is proposed that the Conservatoire would relocate from its current home at Paradise Circus to a nearby city centre site.

This move is part of the wider development for Paradise Circus, which is being led by Birmingham City Council and developer Argent. Positive negotiations are ongoing and the University plans to make a detailed announcement later this year.

To support the Conservatoire’s world-class education the earmarked premises would be fully fitted with purpose-built facilities. Also planned is a new 475-seat concert hall on Centenary Way, which will run from Centenary Square to Chamberlain Square.

“We’re delighted to be part of a city – and a University – that is serious about our development as one of the UK’s leading conservatoires,” said David Saint, Acting Principal for Birmingham Conservatoire.

He added: “We plan to make further announcements about our new home later this year, so watch this space.

“We look forward to sharing our vision, not just for the immediate future - but for the Conservatoire's growth and development in Birmingham towards our 250th birthday in 2136.”
