Birmingham City University is strengthening its international links by creating a new international network for education and research with Istanbul Aydin University.
Following a visit to the UK earlier this month Dr Mustafa Aydin, Board of Trustees at Istanbul Aydin University agreed a formal arrangement with Birmingham City University to encourage collaboration between the two institutions. The visit also included a tour and discussion at the University’s Faculty of Technology, Engineering and the Environment and a visit to the renowned School of Art and School of Jewellery. Dr Aydin was able to see first-hand the work that Birmingham City University students are involved in and his visit culminated in a meeting with Birmingham City University Vice-Chancellor Professor David Tidmarsh, where a formal collaboration agreement was signed.
The relationship will see the two universities work closer on a range of initiatives including academic and student exchanges; summer study abroad programmes; joint seminars, conferences, workshops and joint and dual degree projects.
Parmila Murria, Assistant Director of the International Office at Birmingham City University, says: “This is an exciting opportunity for global engagement with a strategic partner. Istanbul Aydin University has existing links across Europe, the Americas and Asia, which offer a truly international experience for their students. Dr Mustafa Aydin adds: “We are delighted with this collaboration which will undoubtedly be a very good opportunity for our students. We intend to create sustainable relations with a number of Birmingham City University’s faculties including Birmingham City Business School, the Faculty of Technology, Engineering and Environment, and Birmingham Institute of Art and Design.”
