Celebrating the best in art and design

The brightest new stars of art, design, jewellery, fashion and visual communication will be showing their work to the public later this week.

Masters of Arts (MA) students from Birmingham City University will be showcasing their final projects at a series of shows across the city.

Open to the general public, as well as those in the creative industries, the MA shows are an eclectic mix of work and a rich source of fresh talent making them ideal for employers searching for trend-setting, new recruits.

The shows demonstrate what can be achieved by studying at Birmingham Institute of Art and design (BIAD) and they are also an ideal opportunity for prospective students to see examples of student work.

Professor Chris O’Neil, Executive Dean BIAD, said: “Creatively this year’s shows promise to be very exciting. The quality is high; the students have picked a wide range of subjects and are presenting their work through a variety of disciplines.”

The exhibitions will be open to the public on the following dates:

School of Jewellery

Venue: Vittoria Street

Private View: Sat 11th Sept, 6-8pm

School of Visual Communication

Venue: Gosta Green

Private View: Mon 13th Sept, 6-8.30pm

School of Fashion, Textiles 3D

Venue: Gosta Green

Private View: Mon13th Sept, 6–8.30pm

In addition, to celebrate 125 years of art at Margaret Street, Birmingham City University is School of Art is hosting an exhibition “When we build let us think that we build forever” which is a showcase of newly commissioned work alongside contributions by past and present students and staff.
