Birmingham City University (BCU) has been shortlisted in two prestigious categories at the 2026 Student Nursing Times Awards.
The national recognition highlights the exceptional talent, dedication and innovation demonstrated by BCU’s students, educators and practice partners, reinforcing the University’s commitment to shaping the future of nursing and midwifery.
Helen Davis-Miles has been shortlisted for University Educator of the Year in recognition of her unwavering dedication to teaching excellence, mentorship and student support.
Her commitment to empowering the next generation of nurses and midwives has had a transformative impact on learners and colleagues alike.
Ella Bennett’s compassion, professionalism and academic excellence have secured her place on the shortlist for Student Midwife of the Year.
Her nomination highlights her remarkable commitment to women, and families, as well as her academic and clinical achievement.
One of BCU’s major partners – the Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust – has also been shortlisted in the Student Placement of the Year: Hospital category.

The winners will be announced at the Student Nursing Times Awards ceremony on 24 April.
