The fourth annual research showcase of Arts, Design and Media (ADM), and the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire (RBC) will be held at Parkside Gallery in July.

One of the co-curators, Professor in Fine Art Practice, Dr Becky Shaw, is showcasing her research project called Justheat: “This project gathered and examined oral histories of communities’ experiences across four European counties of how home heating has changed since 1945.

“I’ll be displaying video, books and postcards to showcase that explore that change. We hope the research will inform decision-makers on energy to be fairer and more effective when it comes to decarbonisation policies.

“The exhibition gives researchers a moment to reflect on their achievements and of their colleagues’ and to help make our vibrant community visible both inside and outside BCU.”

The exhibition includes traditional research methods such as journal articles but also practice research that will be showcased in a variety of ways.

“I’m looking forward to celebrating some of the exciting new work produced by ADM and RBC staff over the last 12 months,” said ADM Assistant Dean, Dr Nicholas Gebhardt said.

“It’s a great opportunity to see what research has been produced and sample it in new ways, from soundscapes, to visual art, and contemporary poetry.”

The exhibition runs from 1-11 July at Parkside Gallery.
