Hannah Abbott has been appointed as the new Dean of Life and Health Sciences at Birmingham City University (BCU).
Currently Deputy Dean for the Faculty of Health, Education and Life Sciences, Hannah is one of six new academic Deans at the University.
Vice-Chancellor Professor David Mba said: “Hannah brings a deep understanding of our University, our people, and our ambitions.
“Over the past decade, she has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to excellence and a strong track record of leadership across academic and professional roles.
“I am confident that, under her direction, the School of Life and Health Sciences will grow as a centre of innovation, impact and opportunity, supporting students and our 2030 strategy.”
A former Vice President and President of the College of Operating Department Practitioners, Hannah joined BCU in 2013 and has held a number of teaching and senior leadership positions.
Hannah (pictured) said: “I am delighted to have been appointed as Dean and feel very privileged to have the opportunity to lead the School of Life and Health Sciences.
“I am driven by the pursuit of excellence and am committed to making the School of Life and Health Sciences a high-performing academic School which excels in all aspects of academic practice, with a tangible positive impact upon our students, staff, and the wider community.
“I am proud to be continuing my academic career at BCU and look forward to working with colleagues in the School and the wider University as we work to deliver the 2030 strategy.”
