PR degree student Elisabeth Hewitt has won the opportunity to help promote a new scheme to encourage entrepreneurship in Midlands.
Elisabeth will be working for NTI Birmingham and Screen Media Lab helping organise PR for BSEEN, a brand new scheme offering graduates the opportunity to follow their own entrepreneurial ideas.
Elisabeth, who is on the second year of the Public Relations degree, was given the opportunity through one of her assignments.
Pete Wilby, Degree Leader for Public Relations at Birmingham City University, said: "Elisabeth joined the BSeen project as a direct result of one of her assignment tasks when she had to pitch an idea to them for a PR campaign.
“She clearly made an excellent impression and I'm delighted that she has been able to gain some valuable 'real world' experience while studying for her degree.
"This is in keeping with our approach to encourage students to build up their professional skills through direct involvement with the world of work as a vital part of their studies."
The scheme, which started in March, is dedicated to helping graduates interested in developing their own business enterprise. Over six months, graduates will have access to office space, wage subsidy and bursaries to help fund their idea, as well as top training and mentoring throughout the process to encourage them to reach their full potential. One day every month there will also be a Graduate Enterprise Club which will offer further quality training and advice from industry professionals, as well as networking opportunities.
Elisabeth said: "I'm so grateful for this opportunity, the hands on experience will set me up for when I graduate and I can say I've been employed by a reputable company for a year. The BSEEN scheme is a great way for graduates to pursue their own entrepreneurial ideas or develop skills they already have and it's a pleasure to help develop and promote the scheme."
