The dos and don'ts of writing for television and film will be put under the spotlight this month as professional scriptwriter Si Spencer leads a public talk at Birmingham City University.

Si Spencer has been writing professionally for over 25 years, including long stints on 'Eastenders', 'Grange Hill' and 'The Bill' as well as comic books 'Judge Dredd', 'Tank Girl' and his own critically acclaimed graphic novel series.

At the free event on Thursday 29 May, Si will be stripping away the theories of scriptwriting, applying his decades of experience from a fresh and practical perspective.

In the last four years, Si has worked with hundreds of new writers, guiding many to professional careers in the industry. His book 'Script Doctor's 100 Writing Tips for TV and Film' was published in 2010 and the Script Doctor Facebook page has over 2000 members.

Si will also be discussing the relationship between scriptwriting and graphic novel storytelling, as well as answering questions from the audience.
