Six students who took part in a series of Computing professional development workshops at the University have accepted job offers from Leading Microsoft partner company Pythagoras
The Microsoft Dynamics workshops took place in March and April this year, following a Microsoft campus event during the CEBE Career fair in early March.
The workshops not only saw students given the opportunity to attempt CRM-related tasks set by Pythagoras, but also the chance to meet several of the organisation’s consultants.
Those students who passed the process Pythagoras then invited to interview, with six successfully accepting job roles that included Graduate Consultants and Graduate IP Developers in the Maidenhead, Solihull or London offices. These students are from a range of Computing courses including Business Information Technology, Computer Science and Information Communication Technology and one is a Masters level student from Enterprise Systems Management.
One of the students Serina Mohammed (ICT), started working at Pythagoras at the start of August as a Graduate IP Developer. She has already developed new skills. “Since I’ve been working for Pythagoras, I have gained an understanding of CRM and have been able to create a small fraction of a solution within the first month of working here. Currently I’m working on the fundamental skills of (programming language).”
Serina has high hopes for her future career: “I wish to become a senior developer or consultant at Pythagoras. With the support and guidance Pythagoras is providing, I believe that this is definitely something that can be achieved.”
Her advice to current students is to get involved in everything on offer at University;
Jagjeet Behniwal has also recently joined Pythagoras and reflected on his time at Birmingham City University: “Studying at Birmingham City University has been one of the most rewarding choices I have made. It has enabled me to learn, develop and innovate both skills and knowledge with many thanks to the experienced staff and mentors. In particular, gaining access to industry consultants through the University’s Microsoft ties whilst on my Business Information Technology programme of study, led me on to participating in campus events and employer led workshops.”
“I received job offers from Consulting IT businesses that detected my talent and experienced what I was like as an individual. This I found most beneficial as employers could make an informed choice that usually is a short interview with applicants. This commitment to my personal development enabled the employers to get detailed knowledge about me that has enabled me to succeed in securing a role as a Graduate CRM Consultant at Pythagoras, Microsoft Business partner”.
Julian Stone, CEO, Pythagoras commented, “I have been delighted to welcome six new graduates into the company which coincides with the creation of the Pythagoras Academy. I am passionate about supporting and developing young people, and through working in partnership with Birmingham City University, we have committed to employing the best of the talent out there.”
