An academic from Birmingham School of the Built Environment has been appointed as a 'super-assessor' by the UK's leading body for architectural technologists.

Paul Laycock, Course Leader in Architectural Technology has been chosen to become one of the UK's first 'super-assessors' for the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists (CIAT) professional development and competence programme.

Paul explained: "I have been a Professional and Occupational Practice (POP) assessor for CIAT for around four years. Earlier this year, CIAT made the decision to appoint POP moderators to oversee the assessment process, highlighting areas of both content and procedural improvement.

"For the foreseeable future there will only be four moderators in the UK. I have been asked to be one of the first two. In addition to the role described above, the first two will be formalising what the moderator role actually is and where and how it fits into the POP process."
Nick Morton, Head of Birmingham School of the Built Environment added: "This is tremendous news for Paul, and in the national profile and recognition it will bring for the School."
