Our MA Contemporary Curatorial Practice students have taken over St Paul's Church to create an immersive art space.
Response243 had run from 21 March to 19 April, and it was an exhibition removed from the white walls of the gallery space, showcasing works that correspond directly with the space in which they are situated.
As part of the course taught at the School of Art, students have joined forces to embed the art works into St Paul's Church, a 243-year-old chapel situated in Birmingham's iconic Jewellery Quarter, through sound, visual and installation. St Paul's Church is situated in a beautiful Georgian Square within the Jewellery Quarter of Birmingham and operates under the Church of England. The site was one of two new chapels built under an Act of Parliament of 1772.
Each artist has approached the exhibition differently, working with the curators to celebrate the church's rich history, it's architectural space and placement within Birmingham. The exhibition was curated and work produced by students from the School of Art.
