This international art prize, which was awarded at the Master’s Dinner on 18 May, recognises a student who has demonstrated exceptional talent in traditional drawing, painting or working with mixed media.

As part of the award win, Boyana will receive advice and support from art industry professionals, and has had her artwork professionally framed and displayed at the inauguration of the Guild Artist Exhibition in Stratford-upon-Avon. The artwork will move to London to be displayed at the Guild Gallery at a later date.

Boyana’s ‘Tribe’ collection is a series of watercolour and acrylic portraits of the Huli tribe from Papua New Guinea, which she chose because of their colourful masks and body paints.

Boyana posted on Facebook: “I can’t express how thankful I am to be the winner of the Jorge Aguilar-Agon Student Artist Award 2019. I want to thank Jorge for the opportunity and the lovely chat over dinner.”

The Jorge Aguilar-Agon Student Artist Award is run by the Fine Art Committee of the Fine Art Trade Guild, the trade association for fine art in the UK.

Jorge Aguilar-Agon is an award-winning contemporary romantic impressionist painter, whose paintings are held in private collections and museums around the world. In 2015 Jorge Aguilar-Agon was awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award by the Fine Art Trade Guild and entered into the Guild Hall of Fame.
