New Birmingham School of Architecture and Design recruit, Kasia Nawratek, has announced her ambitions to help BA (Hons) Architecture Level 5 students “develop their identity as designers”.
The 38 year-old, who originally hails from Katowice in Poland, has been drafted in from her previous position as International Foundation module leader and associate lecturer at Plymouth University to lead the Level 5 programme, calling upon her experience in pedagogy, management and the architecture industry.
Contemporary architectural practice
In a bid to “surprise students with what they can achieve”, the Silesian University of Technology graduate aims to leave students prepared for the current landscape of the industry. Ms Nawratek said:
A career combining academia and practice
Nawratek, who is now registered with the Architects Registration Board (ARB) and boasts eight years of practice-based experience and seven years of experience in academia, initially mastered her trade through studying Architecture and Town Planning at Silesian University of Technology.
Following this she moved on to take her Part III Examination in Professional Practice at University College Dublin, landing her first job at KUBS as an architecture assistant in Riga, Latvia. Kasia added:
“Architecture is a vast profession, it allows for investigations in many directions and can accommodate for variety of talents and interests. It is constantly challenging, as it reflects and adapts to the world, where our understanding and experience of space increasingly blurs the divide between the physical and the virtual.”
