Natalia Brigagão

Natalia Brigagão is an experienced human rights scholar working in the intersection between constitutional law, international law, and politics. An inaugural 2021 Victor Nunes Leal Chair at the Brazilian Supreme Federal Court, she has read for a Magister Juris (Oxford) and an LLB (UFU, Brazil) and attended Harvard University as a Visiting Student.

Natalia is interested in how law both creates and perpetuates and can be advanced, reformed, or changed to redress inequalities. She is currently investigating how constitutional courts address equality in judicial review cases where, although inequalities are at stake, the right to equality and non-discrimination is not expressly triggered by the claim.
