UAE Campus

Birmingham City University was proud to open the doors of its UAE branch campus in 2020 when our very first students joined us in Ras Al Kahimah. The campus has been established under licence by the RAZEK authority. In the first year, students at BCU UAE will study on a range of eight different top-up courses. From September 2021, a full suite of courses will become available.

Personal transformation

Birmingham City University (BCU)’s mission is rooted in its desire to support individual personal transformation for its students – and this will be reflected in the quality of education for students who enrol at BCU UAE, just as it is for those students who enrol in the UK. The qualifications awarded by BCU, whether in the UK or the UAE, have equal merit and standing, which means BCU UAE students can be assured of the University’s commitment to their success during and after their studies. BCU is a degree awarding power recognised by the Office for Students (OfS) in the UK and all BCU degrees, including those delivered in the UAE comply with Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) guidelines and align with the UK Qualifications Framework.

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is a federation of seven states – Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Ajman, Fujairah, Ras al Khaimah, Sharjah and Umm al Quwain – located in the Middle East and with a population of 8.1 million people.

While the UAE has historically relied on its substantial oil and gas reserves, the economy has diversified and the state is now a major international tourist and business centre. The trade, tourism, real estate and construction sectors help to power a strong economy.

BCU’s branch campus is located in Ras al Khaimah, in the north-east of the UAE.

Coronavirus update

During the Covid-19 pandemic, our number one priority is the safety of our staff and students in the UK and around the world. BCU works closely with the UAE Health Ministry and the Ministry of Education to ensure that appropriate safety measures are in place to support students, staff, visitors and the local community. We’ve undertaken a full assessment of our UAE campus, enabling us to deliver learning in a safe, balanced way.
