Birmingham has a Vietnamese community of over 3,500 people who play a significant role in contributing to the city's economic, social, and cultural life.
Birmingham has a proud reputation as one of the youngest and most diverse cities in Europe. You will experience great food, great entertainment and a great culture in our city. We have many Vietnamese restaurants to enjoy, as well as events and attractions at the Vietnamese Development Centre, including nail art, reflexology, traditional music, food and dance. There are many temples across our city too, including the Birmingham Buddhist Vihara and Chùa Từ Đàm.
It's a particularly exciting time to become a student at Birmingham City University. We've invested over £500 million in our estate, including a major expansion of our City Centre Campus at Eastside, providing students with an enviable range of facilities. We've invested heavily in innovative technology to give our students the best possible preparation for their chosen careers. Facilities include a mock law court, a virtual radiography suite, broadcast studios, fashion workshops and a mock operating theatre.
Our research work continues to attract international attention, 93% of our research was recognised internationally for originality, significance and rigour, of which 19% was judged world-leading (REF 2021).

What our students say...
“I chose Birmingham City University because it offers a top-up programme which is very beneficial to me. I want to work in finance within a bank or company. I have three relatives who have been very successful in finance, and I want to be like them. I like that you learn the theory in the course, as well as how to use programmes and how to analyse data. The tutors are very helpful and I know I can email them if I don’t understand something, and they will answer.
"Birmingham is the second largest city in the UK, so I love living and studying here; I work part-time in a local restaurant so I earn money alongside my study. It’s a very lively city and I’ve made lots of international friends; you will never get bored of living here and moving here won’t be a culture shock as there are lots of Vietnamese and Chinese students. After I graduate, I want to go home to work in finance but maybe I will come back to do my MBA here in one – two years time.”
