Walton Henry V: Suite
Beethoven Symphony No.1
Round off your week with a free hour-long concert courtesy of RBC’s Repertoire Orchestra. They’ll play Beethoven’s sunny and playful first symphony which looks back to the work of his predecessors Haydn and Mozart, while also marking him out as a forward-thinking composer with his own unique ideas.
The music from Walton’s thrilling film score to Henry V is alive with scenes of charging cavalry and clashing swords, as well as poignant reflection and a tender love song. But first, a brand new piece by Conservatoire student Vinicius Motta, which he describes as expressing ‘a juggernaut of feelings’.
Running time approx. one hour.
