Mawish Munawar is a higher education professional, social entrepreneur, and researcher with over 13 years of multifaceted experience in academia, project leadership, and community development. Currently, she serves as the Course Director for the BA Business with Marketing programme and a Teaching Fellow in Management – Entrepreneurship & Innovation at Birmingham City University, UK. Mawish is pursuing a PhD in Social Entrepreneurship at BCU, focusing on the empowerment potential of women-led social enterprises within the UK’s Asian communities.
Throughout her academic career, Mawish has held key teaching and leadership roles across several reputable institutions in the UK and Pakistan, including the University of Gujrat, Arden University, and the University of Central Punjab. She has developed and led modules on Entrepreneurship, Innovation, International Business, and Brand Management at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Her pedagogical approach is enriched by her qualifications, including a PGCert in Research, a Postgraduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education, and multiple certifications in innovation leadership and STEAM practices.
Mawish has a proven track record of academic service and curriculum development, having coordinated quality assurance processes, managed student societies, and organized high-profile academic events. She has supervised numerous postgraduate theses and has actively contributed to research clusters and AACSB-accredited initiatives. Her recent co-authored work, “Beyond Survival: How Black and Asian-Led Social Enterprises are Responding and Adapting to the UK Cost-of-Living Crisis”, is published on SSRN and reflects her strong research orientation.
Internationally recognized for her impactful presentations at the ISBE Conference and Doctoral Symposium, Mawish has explored themes of resilience, empowerment, and minority entrepreneurship. Her earlier research on customer knowledge management has also been published and presented at national and international forums.
Outside academia, Mawish is the co-founder of Giving Hands, an NGO supporting marginalized students and patients in Pakistan through collective community support. She has also worked as a public speaker, event organizer, and leadership trainer through initiatives such as LOUD (Unlocking the Thoughts).
Her professional journey reflects a passionate commitment to education, empowerment, and inclusive innovation. Mawish continues to inspire students, peers, and communities through her scholarship, teaching, and social impact.
