Dr Abiodun S. Adegbile

Associate Professor in Management


Abiodun Adegbile is an Associate Professor in Management and a Senior Fellow of the UK Higher Education Academy. He has a PhD in Business Administration and Economics from the European University Viadrina, Germany.

Abiodun’s research interests lie in the broad fields of international business, entrepreneurship, and strategic management, focusing on African developing economies and other emerging markets. He draws on a broad range of theories, like social network theory, resource-based theories, institutional theory, etc., as a meta-theoretical lens for his research. Abiodun has authored several articles in top refereed academic journals, conference proceedings, and book chapters.

Prior to joining Birmingham City University, Abiodun worked at Nottingham Business School and Coventry Business School. While at Nottingham Business School, he was an active member of the Centre for International Business Strategy and Decisions (CIBSD) and was part of the team for the Athena Swan reaccreditation exercise. While at Coventry Business School, Abiodun successfully took on various management and leadership roles in teaching and learning, where he served as Course Director on courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

Abiodun has held different roles in the development of faculty and university-wide change projects and accreditation exercises. He has proven experience in the design, development, and delivery of courses and modules at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Abiodun has been extensively involved in teaching and learning activities where he taught and led modules both at undergraduate and postgraduate (MSc and MBA) levels. He also led and supported the University’s enterprise and innovation agenda through various initiatives, such as teaching and leading in public sector executive leadership education and apprenticeship programmes.

Abiodun is keen to work with PhD students and collaborate with researchers and industry practitioners interested in entrepreneurship, international business, and strategy in African developing economies and other emerging markets.
