Emma Widdop
With a background in art practice and training in architecture, landscape architecture, urban design and horticulture, Emma’s work draws on a range of disciplines. Her practice is concerned with how people experience and use space, and how social and environmental conditions influence our relationship with the built environment.
With over a decade of experience in professional landscape architecture, Emma brings industry knowledge of technical practice, project delivery and working within multidisciplinary teams into her teaching. She combines practical experience with critical and reflective approaches, helping students develop the skills and confidence to take an idea from initial concept through to a resolved and buildable proposal.
Visual communication is central to Emma’s practice. She uses drawing and painting as methods of spatial inquiry, employing observation, representation and mark-making to investigate relationships between people, space and the built environment. Through these processes, visual practice becomes both a means of communicating design ideas and a way of critically examining collective human experience.
