Augmented Vocality and Beyond: Voice, Language, Technology and Creative Practice. A Symposium

At a time of rapid changes in technology, the rise of AI, and increasing uncertainty, the relationships between voice, language, and technology are central to debates about the future of human creativity. Augmented Vocality and Beyond: Voice, Language, Technology and Creative Practice. A Symposium is a one-day event that brings together researchers and creative artists whose work addresses these questions. The symposium will include paper presentations, a panel discussion, and a keynote discussion with composer Sivan Cohen-Elias, Assistant Professor of Composition and Music Technology at the University of Minnesota School of Music. www.sivancohenelias.com

The symposium concludes with a concert of new works for voice and electronics, performed by pre-eminent contemporary composer and vocalist Laura Bowler. Each of the pieces demonstrates different responses to questions raised by the symposium. The programme features a performance of Who-He-Huh by keynote presenter Sivan Cohen-Elias.

Laura is Deputy Head of Composition at the Royal Northern College of Music, and her work is published by Ricordi. https://laurabowler.co.uk
