Ella Cordon Vieito piano

Albéniz Iberia Volume 1

In this two part concert, soprano Victoria Harley delights in a selection of songs that include a fiery aria from Handel, Dvořák’s much-loved Song to the Moon, Rebecca Clarke’s haunting setting of John Masefield’s The Seal Man and a deliciously light-hearted song by Liza Lehmann.

The second half is taken up by Albéniz’s piano suite Iberia, one of the great piano works to come out of Spain.  Ella Cordon Vieito plays Book 1 which captures the essence of southern Spain in three pieces – the languid Evocation, a busy harbour, and the festival of Corpus Christi in Seville.
